Clinical Psychologist

Education & Work Experience

I am a Clinical Psychologist from Kansas City, MO, with a Ph.D. from Jackson State University, earned in 2018. My doctoral research focused on the influence of contemporary rap music on Black college-aged men and women’s racial identity development, self-esteem, and implicit bias. This academic foundation has been pivotal in shaping my approach to integrating mental health with hip-hop culture and wellness.

Therapy Style

In my therapeutic practice, I blend Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy with holistic practices such as mindfulness, meditation, reiki, and elements of hip-hop culture. My goal is to offer a culturally affirming and empowering approach that helps clients develop their own paths to healing. I work with a diverse range of individuals, including children, adolescents, and adults, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, generational trauma, grief, and identity development. My therapeutic work is centered on fostering self-awareness, accountability, and acceptance within a supportive and sacred environment.

Fun Facts

I’ve branded myself as a ‘HipHopologist,’ a unique title that reflects my passion for merging mental health with hip-hop culture. This approach not only connects with clients on a cultural level but also helps reach communities with historically limited access to mental health services.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy exploring how music and cultural practices can enhance well-being and contribute to meaningful personal growth.
